Live painting at Executive Studio Grand Opening Weekend in Detroit

I’ve been painting now for a year and a half and it has really become a part of me. Embodying my inner artist has taken me to some interesting places and presented even more interesting opportunities.

February 4-5, I participated in the Grand Opening of Executive Studio, a content creation/photography space where patrons can rent pods in the studio or the entire studio for affordable prices.

During the entire pre-grand opening weekend I did a live painting. This was my first time doing anything like this since I began painting so I was a bit nervous at first but once I put the brush to the canvas I found my rhythm.

A piece I call, ‘Picture Me Rollin’ it's a play on the popular Tupac song (it’s also the name of one of Nipsey Hussle’s songs from the Slauson Boy 2 project), and it commemorates the opening of the photography space in a celebratory way.

Overall it turned out to be a really cool experience! I didn’t know what I would paint until I got everything set up but the inspiration flowed through immediately. You can catch the painting hanging on one of the walls of the studio. If you’re in the Detroit area, stop by and check it out! While you’re there, check out the studio and what it has to offer. Congratulations to the owners, Moe and Byrd!
